“Anne, we can’t express how happy we are with these photos. They are absolutely incredible. We are genuinely blown away!”
Oh what a fun village hall wedding in Petersham this was! Stunning florals, exquisite styling, and this gem of a venue is also just around the corner from my all-time favourite spot for coffee, inspiration and buying too many plants, the ever so fashionable Petersham Nurseries. Claire and Joel are the kind of people you want to hang out with, because they are both so lovely and chilled out and genuine. My 2019 wedding season was more or less a washout but on Claire and Joel’s wedding day the weather was absolutely perfect for a chilled out drinks reception on the village hall lawn followed by hilarious speeches and delicious pizza fresh from the ‘well kneaded’ pizza van. Joel’s step mum created a masterpiece of a wedding cake and after a well-received ‘cocktail and cake’ hour it was time to throw some shapes on the dancefloor (who knew that a plastic trout could be so sexy?).
I often work with couples who rock the ‘budget’ DIY wedding style (just check out Max and Jenny’s barn wedding in Bavaria) What I admired about Clare and Joel and their village hall wedding is that they had a clear vision of what they wanted their venue to look like and managed to pull off an amazing and absolutely gorgeous looking day without spending a ton. They repurposed furniture, crafted amazing decorations and arranged a ton of the most gorgeous Dahlias, all with the help of their super creative friends. What I loved even more? The seriously good vibe on the day, which just totally shows – again – that ultimately what makes your wedding day special is not the decorations, the venue or the dress, it’s the love of the people who celebrate with you.
